Why Other Platforms Force You to Create Accounts

Most online tool websites require sign-up for one or more of these reasons:

• To track your usage and enforce limits — they need to know who you are so they can count your "free conversions" and push you toward a paid plan.
• To collect your email for marketing — expect a welcome email, weekly "tips," promotional offers, and "we miss you" re-engagement campaigns.
• To store your files in cloud storage — justified as "convenience" but really a lock-in mechanism. Your files are on their servers; you need an account to access them.
• To build a user profile for advertisers — your email, usage patterns, geographic location, and file types become data points for targeted advertising.
• To create a sense of investment — once you have created an account, you are psychologically less likely to switch to a competitor.
